bismillahirrahmanirrahim,

regarding what everjihad said, it is not really possible for us to think of the Ummah all the time, is it?

but the thing is, we must build up the realization that there are other things to think about than ourselves...

and it is the thinking process that is important, not really the outcome, because in the end, we humans are ultimately bounded by our 5 senses and what we can read and perceive...

so, start thinking other serious stuff, that is the message i wanted to highlight...

and then one will come to the realization that the world does not revolve only around one's life...

a good place to start, perhaps, if you're a science student, would probably be global warming and sustainability of life. there are lots of discussions going on, and it could prove to be interesting...

if you're not a science student, then I think economics would be a good place to start. read up some books, magazines or journals to see what is happening in the world. issues like fairtrade, poverty, etc are all very interesting...

i myself would personally like to start on philosophy, but that will have to wait until a bit later, when i have more time to spare..

wallahua'lam

    salam,

perhaps it is easier for those who has realised that it is important to read on the "serious stuffs".

how about those who has not realise the importance of it? asking them to start reading on "serious stuffs" wont give much result, i'm afraid. how do we start a culture of reading "serious stuffs" which seemed to lack in the young adults of today?

Something to say?
